Below is a message from Mr Green:
"To set out my views in full, in response to the various points made by my constituents, I attach the full text from Hansard of the speech I made in the House of Commons yesterday.
I was moving an amendment of mine which sought to avoid a cliff-edge Brexit by allowing a long period for the negotiation of a trade deal in the event that no Withdrawal Agreement passed through the House of Commons. I would prefer there to be a Withdrawal Agreement, so that we can meet the terms of the Referendum without the immense problems that would be caused by leaving with no arrangements in place.
I have long opposed a No Deal Brexit, which I believe would be particularly bad for us in Kent, which is why I abstained on the vote on the amendment ruling out No Deal, even though the Government was opposing it. I did not think it right to oppose this amendment."
