Damian has praised the achievements of the 2271 charity trustees in Ashford and is encouraging others to consider volunteering their time in the local area by becoming a trustee.
There are 441 charities registered in Ashford, as well as many others operating across the local area. These are all run by trustees, most of whom are volunteers, and who take responsibility for the charity’s crucial work. Without the hard work and dedication of trustees, charities would not be able to provide vital support to the local community.
This week is Trustees’ Week which celebrates the important work of nearly one million trustees across the UK. The week offers an opportunity to share experiences, as well as engage in a range of training and events to help develop essential trustee skills.
The theme of this year’s Trustees’ Week is ‘Many voices. Working together. With purpose’. Celebrating the individual talents, viewpoints and experiences that trustees bring to their boards, and how a diverse collective of people can help make a charity stronger and achieve its purpose. The campaign also encourages more people to consider what they may be able to give to trusteeship and what they may gain in return.
Damian is privileged to be a trustee of the Godinton House Preservation Trust so he knows how hard trustees work. To learn more about Trustees’ Week and trusteeship, visit www.trusteesweek.org
