Connecting care worker pay to NHS bands is principally about parity – parity which will drive more people to choose to work in social care, and to stay there for longer.
Social care is the unsung hero of the Covid pandemic and is the foundation supporting the NHS by reducing admissions, bed blocking, mental health crisis events and enabling patients to be cared for at home by the people who know them best.
