My long standing interest in reforming social care has led me to write multiple policy papers on different aspects of the social care sector and how reform can bring meaningful change. Below is a list and brief description of all the policy papers I have written and contributed to:
Fixing the Social Care Crisis:
I put forward a proposal to secure the future of social care. The care system should adopt a model of the state pension with Government providing enough support for a decent standard of care and then encouraging people to top up this provision from their savings or housing wealth.
A Care System for the future – How digital development can transform adult social care:
This report brings together the thoughts and ideas of Adult Social Care experts regarding the future of the care sector and the opportunities that digital advancements can bring.
The Social Care Workforce – Averting a Crisis:
This report highlights the need for more care workers, for them to stay in their jobs for longer, pay them better, and regard them more highly.
Integrating Health and Social Care – A National Care Service:
This report offers recommendations which will help ensure the successful integration of the health and social care systems which will be of great benefit to our long-term health.
Mind the Cap – Choices and consequences for financing social care:
This report offers recommendations to take to ensure the proper funding of social care. We must address the problems of regional unfairness and the complexity and inaccessibility of the current system.
