Today the CMS Committee held its fourth and final session on scrutinising the Draft Media Bill. We heard from two panels today. In the first panel we heard from Kate Biggs (Director of Content Policy, Ofcom), Kate Davies (Public Policy Director, Ofcom), and Colin Browne (Chair, Voice and Listener Panel). In the second panel we heard from Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP (Minister of State, Department of Culture, Media and Sport), Robert Specterman-Green (Director of Media and Creative Industries, Department for Culture, Media and Sport).
The first panel enabled us to consider the Bill from a viewers’ perspective, as well as examining whether Ofcom thinks there are any issues that need addressing. The second panel gave us the chance to put the key issues which have arisen during the inquiry to the Minister.
