Today the CMS Committee held its second evidence session for its inquiry into gambling regulation. We heard from two panels today. In the first panel we heard from Michael Dugher (CEO, Betting and Gambling Council) and Wes Himes (Executive Director Standards and Innovation, Betting and Gambling Council). In the second panel we heard from John White (Chief Executive, British Amusement Catering Trade Association) and Miles Baron (Chief Executive, Bingo Association).
The session focused on the gambling industry, and its reactions to the Government’s recently published Gambling White Paper. The first panel focused on the proposed reforms to online gambling. The second panel examined proposals that will affect the industry as a whole, namely the statutory gambling levy and gambling ombudsman, as well as the major changes proposed to the land-based sector.
