Today the CMS Committee held its fourth evidence session for its inquiry into Women’s Sport. We heard from Barbara Slater (Director of Sport, BBC), Niall Sloane (Director of Sport, ITV) and Jonathan Licht (Managing Director of Sky Sports).
We examined the challenges and opportunities faced by broadcasters in growing women’s sport. Questions looked at the listed events regime, the last-minute deal to showcase the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the challenges and opportunities in unbundling broadcasting rights for women’s sport, different broadcasting models, evolving audience needs and tackling misogyny in the media.
